Lewd and uncivilised behaviour
published: Friday | April 30, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

RECENTLY TEMPERS have been flying high and much has been said and teenagers, especially 'schoolers', have been accused of having sexual intercourse on some of our local buses. It is all good and well to have all of this stopped, but by what methods or procedure do we intend to get this done?

As a middle-aged woman with one granddaughter, and concern for other citizens, I do pray that at such a time as this, the passion for such lewd and uncivilised behaviour will not just be another 'cry wolf' with no action, but much action and certainly follow-up.

On the flip side of the coin, however, our evening newspaper, The Star regularly shows pictures of women in short, short skirts leaning on walls or whatever they can find while the man is 'wining' on her behind with all he's got. The other incident features a man in a wheel-chair and a woman on top of him 'doing her stuff'. Give me a break.

Will someone please explain why we only seek to focus on our 'schoolers' not that they are in the right while these other events stare us straight in the face and go unnoticed. Let us try desperately to clean up our acts in totality and not just in parts.

I am, etc.,

C. ALETHA GUTZMORE
