THE EDITOR, Sir:

MOUNT OGLE Basic school located in Lawrence Tavern with an enrolment of 152 children plus seven teachers and two ancillary staff members, was gutted by fire on April 5, 2004.

The Ministry of Education and Government officials are well aware of the situation and have made promises, yet to date nothing has materialised.

This Government has said repeatedly that early childhood education is of major importance, yet these three and four-year-olds are now using make shift classrooms under tarpaulins during the rainy season.

When you treat children in this manner I really wonder how much you expect from them in the future.
