FORMER SOUTH African president Nelson Mandela will be a guest at the 2004 launch of the new Digicel Caribbean Cup set today at the National Stadium in Grenada.
Mandela is in the Caribbean after an invitation from president of CONCACAF and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Austin 'Jack' Warner. Other persons to attend today's launch are Dr. Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada; FIFA president Sepp Blatter; FIFA vice president Warner; senior vice-president of the Carribean Football Union, Captain Horace Burrell and CEO of Digicel, Seamus Lynch.
Meanwhile, four Jamaican players have been selected to represent a Caribbean All-Star team against Morocco in a friendly international which will be a part of the launch.
The four players are goalkeeper Shawn Sawyers and striker Reon Nelson of Portmore United, defender Damion Stewart of Harbour View and midfielder Fabian Davis of Tivoli. Also in the squad is Portmore United and Grenada player Anthony Modeste.
