Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Why the education system has failed its examinations
THE EDITOR, Sir: ON MARCH 7, 2004, an article written by Opposition Leader Edward Seaga was published in The Sunday Gleaner.

Review the 'no right turn' road signs
THE EDITOR, Sir: I NOTE with observation, street signs which read 'No Right Turn Mondays-Fridays between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m'.

Chicken tariff rollback would be regrettable
THE EDITOR, Sir: ONE VIEWS with dismay the response from the Minister of Agriculture concerning the impending reduction of tariffs on chicken imports...

Motorcyle unit for fire service
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE FIRE Department needs to be innovative. Having paid close attention to the plight of the fire service over the years, I think the principals need to start looking at solutions rather than just complaining.

Outing blazes efficiently
THE EDITOR, Sir: SOME OF the things that happen in this country defy all understanding. On several occasions since 2004 we have seen a JDF helicopter, with water bucket hanging, flying over Mona Heights towards the mountains.

Master-slave mentality
THE EDITOR, Sir: I AM sorry that we as a nation have had to call upon our former slave masters to sort out a domestic issue with our local police department.

New hotels a bad idea
THE EDITOR, Sir: I RECENTLY read about the grand plans to build new hotels in the Trelawny area. I don't think that this is a good idea. If it was, the major hotel chains would be expanding their product offerings and following suit.

Great work by the NHT
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WISH to thank the staff of the National Housing Trust (NHT) for their efficient and courteous handling of a business transaction I recently had with them.
