Master-slave mentality
published: Monday | May 3, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM sorry that we as a nation have had to call upon our former slave masters to sort out a domestic issue with our local police department. Worse is that we have agreed to accept their judgement and punish these officers. Couldn't Jamaica have appointed another Caribbean nation to investigate the matter which would then be joined with their own conclusions? This perhaps would not have been as much a bitter pill to swallow by the officers who were under scrutiny or the people of Jamaica.

We have lost our pride as a nation and still have this master-slave mentality and feel that they alone know what is best for our welfare. You are wrong, my people. Wake up now. Read your motto now.

I am, etc.,
