Cop killed in St Catherine

THE BULLET-RIDDLED body of a 23-year-old police constable, was found Thursday night on the New Works main road in St. Catherine.

Reports are that the constable who has been identified as Anthony Dixon, formerly of Mobile Reserve, was robbed of his service revolver and an undetermined sum of money.

The youngster who graduated from the Police Academy in 2002, became the sixth member of the Jamaica Constabu-lary Force (JCF) to have been killed by gunmen since the start of the year. He died less than a week after celebrating his 23rd birthday.

Tourist jumps from bus, dies

WESTERN BUREAU:

AN AMERICAN tourist reportedly jumped to his death from a moving tour bus in the resort town of Negril on Thursday night.

He has been identified as Roy Kevin Stapler, a 32-year-old contractor of Georgia in the United States.

Mr. Stapler, who was vacationing on the island is alleged to have jumped from the bus on the Norman Manley Boulevard.

The Constabulary Communication Network reports that Mr. Stapler was travelling in the tour bus about 10:00 p.m. when he allegedly asked the driver to take him to an undisclosed location. The driver is reported to have refused his request, following which Mr. Staples allegedly jumped from the vehicle.

He was taken to a nearby medical facility where he was pronounced dead.
