Best in Windies squad
published: Tuesday | May 4, 2004

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (AP):

FAST BOWLER Tino Best has been named to the West Indies one-day cricket squad for the seventh and final match of the series against England at Kensington Oval tomorrow.

The 22-year-old replaces fellow Barbadian, Ryan Hinds, the left-handed all-rounder in a 14-member party named by the selectors.

Best has played five Tests but has not yet appeared in a limited overs international. He bowled with fire in the preceding Test series against the Englishmen, taking 12 wickets at an average of 25.08.

Hinds, 23, was in the squad for the first six matches but did not make the final eleven for the home team.

The West Indies leads the rubber 2-1 following back-to-back victories in St. Lucia over the weekend. Three matches were cancelled because of rain.

The West Indies squad: Brian Lara (captain), Chris Gayle, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell. Ramnaresh Sarwan, Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo, Ridley Jacobs, Ian Bradshaw, Ravi Rampaul, Mervyn Dillon, Sylvester Joseph, Corey Collymore, Tino Best.
