RBTT, WHICH has a subsidiary in Jamaica headed by Amrit Sinanan, has been hailed as the Best Trade Finance Bank in Central America and the Caribbean.
The Award was conferred by Euromoney's Emerging Markets newspaper publication and was officially announced at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Annual Meeting held recently in Lima, Peru.
This latest award is based on extensive feedback from analysts and bankers familiar with Central America and the Caribbean and on a number of objective indicators of RBTT's expertise in this area.
In the March 2004 IDB edition, Emerging Markets commended RBTT for its transformation over the last decade from a small local retail bank, into one of the most dynamic and successful regional networks of banking and financial services institutions in the Caribbean region. It stated that "when it comes to cutting-edge export and trade finance solutions, few banks in Central America and the Caribbean can claim as much expertise as RBTT".
"Regional awards are announced at the regional development bank meetings we serve," said Taimur Ahmad, Deputy Editor Emerging Markets. "This is our first annual awards issue exclusively for the Americas. Global awards are published for the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in September."
Emerging Markets, a publication of the Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC was first published for the 1987 IMF meeting. It has since been recognised as the newspaper of record for the annual IMF, World Bank and regional development bank meetings, and its readership includes highly influential public and private sector opinion formers from across the globe.
This Emerging Markets Award follows on the heels of 2003 award presentations to RBTT from The Banker, LatinFinance and The Gleaner's GiltEdge publications.
