THE EDITOR, Sir
I AM very disappointed that Mrs. Simpson Miller will not be given the chance to become Prime Minister of Jamaica. Whatever the merits or de-merits of her recent stance in Parliament, she will not be entrusted with the top position by her fellow ministers of government.
I hope that I am wrong here, because I have always liked her strength and commitment. It is important to remind all that the general public does not decide the choice of Prime Minister. While I can understand the purists' view on the principle involved, let us pray that we do not 'cut off our nose to spite our face.'
It would be great if Mrs. Simpson Miller could apologise to her colleagues about the incident, they in turn forgive her as many before her have been, and continue with the mission of governing Jamaica.
We wish our country the best at this time. The focus ought to be on building a solid economic base with which to project us into the twenty-first century. Little distractions can derail this in a flash. Yield not to temptation.
I am etc.
