THE EDITOR, Sir:
DESPITE THE sanctimonious stance taken by the United States Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, in regard to Professor Rex Nettleford's cogent, true, and to the point comments, regarding the United States hegemonic stance in its foreign policy; and equally as disturbing the arrogant behaviour and comments by President George Bush since being appointed to office please note not elected the fact is, the United States has lost creditable direction in its foreign policy and now assumes the position of dictating to the world community that which satisfies only U.S. interests.
As a professor of Political Science, specialising in International Politics, International Law and Foreign Policy, I am confronted daily with the reality of the behaviour of United States foreign policy, and I'm also very troubled with the current situation.
Professor Nettleford has hit the nail squarely on its head. Indeed, the country that offered such great promise to the world has now become the biggest threat to world peace, all in the name of profit. The international community is not unmindful of the connection between Haliburton, its former CEO, a war in violation of International Law, and oil in Iraq.
I am, etc.,
