Demon possession

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I READ with interest Mark Dawes' article on the phenomenon of demon possession and the Ministry of Deliverance based on his interview of the Rev Lloyd Maxwell. The article makes much interesting reading in the light of the recent controversial debate on the issue between the Rev. Dr. Donald Stewart and Gleaner columnist, the Rev. Devon Dick.
While the article avoided the contentious question of whether a Christian can be demon-possessed, which formed the central focus of the debate between Rev. Dr. Stewart and Rev. Mr. Dick, it addressed the important issue of the existence of demons and the relationship between demon possession and many of human and social problems confronting contemporary society for which there are no natural solutions; and offered the sole remedy in such cases: wherever demons are encountered cast them out.
Most importantly, the article makes the fundamental point that the Ministry of Deliverance is still very much a part of our Christian heritage and where human suffering of any kind exist, as a result of demonic oppression, the Ministry of Deliverance should be invoked to bring about relief to such human suffering.
