Schoolboys doing just as well as the girls
THE EDITOR, Sir: I do not know how many have noticed that in the just concluded Schools' Challenge Quiz on TVJ that it was yet another all-boys team that walked away with the championship trophy.

Congrats to TVJ
THE EDITOR, Sir: Let me use this opportunity to congratulate TVJ for the wonderful work that they have done this year with regards to the Schools' Challenge Quiz Competition.

Ritch crossed red line
THE EDITOR, Sir: Your columnist Dawn Ritch crossed a proverbial red line in her May 16 piece titled "A Shocking Slave Mentality."

Her racial overtones
THE EDITOR, Sir: Dawn Ritch writes in her column on Sunday, that the Government accepted Haitian refugees as an act of self aggrandisement. Even if this was true it still is the right thing to do.

Congrats to TVJ
THE EDITOR, Sir: Let me use this opportunity to congratulate TVJ for the wonderful work that they have done this year with regards to the Schools' Challenge Quiz Competition.

Portia showing affection in public
THE EDITOR, Sir: That article done by your journalist Claude Mills on Hon. Portia Simpson Miller was very distasteful. What is wrong with showing affection in public?

n waiting mode
THE EDITOR, Sir: Stephen Vasciannie's consternation at the poor turnout for the recent CCJ conference at UWI (Gleaner, May 17) was somewhat overdone.

Be careful how we rate our schools
THE EDITOR, Sir: It is sad to know that school's performance is solely based on academic performance of students. Which suggests that the development of good values and attitudes can be ignored or be deemed unnecessary.

Jamalco expansion
THE EDITOR, Sir: I would like to use this medium to call on the Minister of Development and the Minister of Finance to put in place Skill Training programmes to provide the required skill workers for the Jamalco expansion.

Conclusion of the matter
THE EDITOR, Sir: On May 12 The newspaper recorded 450 reported murders so far this year. That's approximately four people per day, one in every 5,000 being murdered if average population is 2.5 million.
