CBAJ executives elected

THE CUSTOMS Brokers' Association of Jamaica (CBAJ) recently elected new executives for the administrative year 2004/05, with Richard Minott, general manager of RCM Customs Brokers Services Limited, being returned as the president. He was re-elected at the association's recent 38th annual general meeting held on April 25, 2004 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

Other members of the CBAJ executive are Mrs. Paulette Watt-Mclntosh, Miss Winnifred Burke, Mr. Donovan Wignal and Miss Jacqueline Cole ­ Vice-Presidents (pari pasua); Mrs. Elaine Woodley-Williams ­ honorary secretary, Mrs. Marcia Bent Ferguson ­ assistant honorary secretary, Mr. Nigel Higgins ­ treasurer and Miss Rosemarie Spence ­ assistant treasurer. Other executive members are Mr. Ivanhoe Ricketts, Mrs. Hyacinth Chantrielle, Mr. T. Leo Samuels, Mr. Horace Hemandez, Mr. Owen Brown, Miss Kerena Clarke, Miss MichelleYee, Mr. Garth Brown and past president Mr. Hendricks Porter.

In his presidential address, Mr. Minnott SAID the CBAJ was affected by the downsizing in the operations of several business entities as well as the freeze in public sector employment.

He also spoke about the proposed amendments to the Customs regulations and cited the need for impartiality.
