NATIONAL MIDFIELDER Fabian 'Fabulous' Davis could cap a superb season by impressing the coaching staff of English Premiership club Bolton Wanderers when they land in Montego Bay for pre-season training between July 1 and 8.
The 29 year-old Davis, who on Sunday lifted the National Premier League trophy for the third time in four years, will form part of a local trio to train with Bolton during their one-week stay in the island.
According to FIFA agent Eric Manasse, Village's Teofore Bennett and Shane Crawford are the other players, who will get the chance to showcase their skills alongside the European and African players.
Manasse, who was instrumental in landing Donavan Ricketts a contract with Bolton, told The Gleaner that the players would be afforded the opportunity to turn themselves into stars during the training period.
"We are going to be inviting three or four Jamaican players to train with the Bolton team during the week that they are here...to scout them. Players that I think have a very good chance perhaps of joining the team," Manasse said.
Davis has a sound chance of plying his trade in Europe, a feat he has been trying to accomplish since the Reggae Boyz' Road to France campaign. Rated as one of the best dead ball kickers locally, the midfielder formed the backbone of Tivoli's Wray and Nephew NPL title success after transferring from Arnett Gardens earlier in the
season.
CRAFTY MIDFIELDER
The crafty midfielder has played in four consecutive Premier League finals, winning two with Arnett and his latest with Tivoli on Sunday. Last season he was on the losing end when Arnett were dethroned by Hazard, now Portmore United.
If Davis impresses, he could very well find himself playing alongside his Jamaican colleagues Ricardo 'Bibi' Gardner and Ricketts.
Manasse said Jamaica was one of the safest environments in which to do their pre-season training,
"Jamaica, especially with the happenings in the world with terrorism, is the ideal place to offer pre-season facilities to premier teams. It is a good, safe environment in pre-season for teams around the world".
"They (Bolton) are very excited to bring the first Premier League team to Jamaica to play in the pre-season. We hope Bolton Wander-ers and their big stars will see Jamaica as the ideal place to have pre-season and to play friendly games."
