Less talk and more action
published: Thursday | May 27, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I AM not surprised that the Minister of Agriculture has decided to let the 260 per cent tariff stay on imported chicken meat, in order to protect, as he claims, local producers.

Consumers should now pressure the Agriculture Minister to put policies and programmes in place to increase the production of poultry meat as a matter of urgency. He needs to do a whole lot more than just talk.

I am, etc.,
