Vybz Kartel needs to be restrained
published: Friday | May 28, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

NOT THAT I'm being too 'falla fashin', but I must say how contented I felt when I read the letter written by Lisa Dawkins that was published in The Gleaner on Thursday the 20th of May. It was in relation to a new dance done by Elephant Man which emulates or should I say mocks the act of baptism. I need not say anymore on that matter as it was well taken care of by Miss Dawkins, whom we ought to note is not a Christian. Well said, Lisa, "elephant needs to be restrained".

On handling another similar matter that concerns that individual whom I assume could not have been born of natural 'Jamaican Blessed Mother': Vybz Kartel. His mouth, body, mind and soul need to be restricted, decontaminated and possibly renovated. The way he speaks about women is absolutely astounding. I'm sure something can be done. The young man is obviously so desperate to be on top of the industry that anything, absolutely any lyrics will do.

Come on 'empty barrel'. We don't need to hear about the girls who 'tek...' and the use of Vaseline to 'push it een'. You do have your fans though, but I forgive them for they might not understand. Well, Vybz Kartel, all the best and let's hope you'll change your lyrics in aid of the social development of our youth. I will pray for you. I'm so sorry for you but I think you'll change.

I am etc.,
