Where's the improvement, NWC?
published: Friday | May 28, 2004

THE EDITOR: Sir

I HAVE written several letters to Water Commission but it takes them months to reply and usually it is the public relations person who encloses literature on what the NWC is doing to serve John Public, but you can knock me down with a feather, I just cannot see the improvement spoken about.

I live in Hope Pastures and almost every day we are without water. I have tried to reason with them suggesting that they tell us what is their plan to cope with the drought. Give us a structured plan as to when and what time water will be supplied, but evidently they find it very difficult to come up with such a plan. Over the past few days we have had some heavy showers, and hopefully some of this fell into the two dams, but one can never tell.

Come to think of it we have had two dams from I was a child and I am no chicken, but nowhere in their forward planning have I heard any mention of building another dam to fill the needs of Jamaica's growing population. It would be good to hear from this organisation what plans are in place to provide a structured water supply.

I am etc.,

BARBARA COVER
