Setting the record right

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I WAS surprised and extremely flattered when a friend told me this week that I had been mentioned in the 'This day in our Past' (May 20) section of the May 20-26 issue of The Weekly Gleaner. I hope you will not think me ungrateful therefore, if I correct the report somewhat by noting that I was on leave from the Ministry of Education, not the Ministry of Agriculture as stated in the item.
I might also note out of respect for both my late parents that you are right that my mother's name was E.A. Melville Stanford but that my father's was Armon F.
May I take this opportunity to commend you and your staff on the impressive work you have been doing on Jamaican history, notably your series on the different 'ethnic' communities well researched articles that help give meaning to the motto 'Out of Many One People'.
I am, etc.,
