A warm hello to Sidney and Sheila
published: Friday | June 11, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE recently had the good fortune to make the acquaintance of a truly delightful couple. They are both what we would call people with lots of memories. They are both from the islands and since I am not, but have spent happy holidays in the Caribbean with my late husband, I have the pleasure to talk with them once a week about the beauty of its people, food and climate.

The reason why I am writing to you is this, we all three live in Cambridge, England, and this lovely couple take The Gleaner every week. I wonder if you would be so kind as to say a warm hello to them in your letters page, their names are Sidney and Sheila. Tell them I appreciate their stories, I feel cheerful in their company and Sidney makes a lovely cup of tea.

I am, etc.,
