Canon Weeville Gordon (right), Custos of Kingston, presents Edgar Stone, category manager at Grace, Kennedy Foods Ltd. with the trophy for Champion Exporter at the JEA's Awards Banquet at the Hilton Kington Hotel on Saturday.
JAMAICA EARNED US$115 million from its top 20 exporters last year or just under 40 per cent of total non-traditional exports, excluding freezone exports of garments, said Dr. Andre Gordon, president of the Jamaica Exporters Association (JEA).
He was speaking at the JEA's Awards Banquet at the Hilton Kingston Hotel, New Kingston, on Saturday culminating a week of JEA activities.
"The positive performances are a confirmation of the effectiveness of the strategies being pursued and a further indication of the potential for growth and expansion of Jamaican exports," said Dr. Gordon.
He urged all exporters to continue to strive for excellence and drive the export sector to new heights where balance of payment discussions are held only in history classes and everyone enjoys a first world standard of living.
