THE EDITOR, Sir:
The GSAT exams are behind us and I am so happy. Beautiful scores from the scholarship winners. Now is the time to track these children and the schools they are slated to attend, let's see how they graduate at CXC, if they are in the country. I must also congratulate the Minister of Education on her bold, assertive move toward the evaluation of teachers. Very timely indeed.
Now, I take great pleasure in congratulating Mrs. Harrison, former Principal of Wolmer's Girls again for her outstanding contribution to education and excellence; three cheers to her on her inimitable style of discipline and students' accomplishment. She is a monolith of education.
I know her shoes are going to be hard to fill, but notwithstanding our personal likings, we must take into consideration the children's best interest; let us see what happens from here on to that great institution.
This being said, I also move that any principal or teacher who is lagging behind in performance, especially since a strong foundation was laid, should be terminated immediately. With the return of many teachers from abroad, I am sure there are going to be willing teachers to replace redundant and uncreative teachers. These 'replacers' would, I am sure be very willing to pass on what they have been exposed to abroad and be more than happy to have secured jobs.
I am, etc.,
