Good job, Mr Boyne
published: Wednesday | June 23, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I MUST pause to congratulate Mr. Ian Boyne, a prolific journalist, on his timely article in The Sunday Gleaner June 20, featuring the fearless Mayor of Kingston. Many Jamaicans from the induction of Mayor McKenzie as Mayor for the Corporate Area have showered him with kudos on his remarkable performance.

I was amazed at his radical approach in carrying out his duties. I was even more alarmed and shocked at his utterance in the past months at the PNP councillors. But, being the genuine icon he is, he came to himself humbly and apologised.

There are many lessons to be learnt from the feature and more so from the Mayor. I would like to recommend that every literate individual especially those of us in leadership roles, take a page from the book, read it, digest it and more importantly, practise it. Indeed, we need many more performing stars. Gentlemen, well done.

I would also like to commend Dr. Glenda P. Simms on hers of even date, entitled: "Good fatherhood is more than deep pockets."

I am, etc.,

C. DIONNE CASSIE

Ocho Rios
