Father's Day blues
published: Wednesday | June 23, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ANOTHER FATHER'S Day goes by and I wonder how many men like me were not even told Happy Father's Day by the mother(s) of their children. Sir, I pride myself as a man who continues to provide very strong moral values and to share in the educational, spiritual, social and financial upbringing of my children. As a father I spend quality time and have always partaken in decisions significantly affecting them as well as making myself knowledgeable on matters of the children's concern.

I have consistently shown them love and exhibited tolerance and understanding to their shortcomings, yet each year Father's Day goes by un-noticed, never a show of gratitude or praise from the mothers of these children and occasionally the children too.

I am nonetheless praised on this day by so many women who have known me and have seen firsthand my love and parental obligation fulfilled with joy towards my children. Please allow me to use this medium in expressing many thanks to those who have not mothered my children and especially Thelma Lennon but saw it worthy to bestow upon me the greeting of Happy Father's Day.

I am, etc.,
