SPALDINGS, CLARENDON:

CHRISTOPHER LAWRENCE, the driver of a white Delta panel van, registration number CD 6611, escaped death yesterday morning when his vehicle climbed an embankment and knocked down a utility pole before it overturned on the driver's side at Walderston in Manchester.

According to an eyewitness report, Lawrence, who is from Sanguinetti in Clarendon, was driving up the hill at Walderston while travelling towards Spaldings at about 6:15 a.m., when his vehicle went up the embankment.

The van then hit a Cable & Wireless pole sending it to the ground with cables attached.

Lawrence, who was alone in the vehicle, received a shoulder injury and a few minor cuts and was rushed to the Percy Junor Hospital for treatment by a motorist.

When The Gleaner visited the scene, Lawrence's father, who is a traffic cop in Manchester, was there seeing to the removal of the vehicle to the garage.
