RGD to relocate its S/E office
published: Monday | June 28, 2004

THE SOUTH Eastern Regional Office of the Registrar General's Department (RGD) has outgrown its current location on Half-Way Tree Road and will be relocating to 4 Trevennion Park Road, as of July 5.

Bryan Aikman, deputy chief executive officer and director of operations at the RGD, said it was a part of the agency's continued effort to improve service delivery to customers.

GROWING NUMBERS

"The move was in response to the growing number of persons visiting the facility," the deputy CEO said. "The current office can no longer hold the number of persons that conduct business on a daily basis so we had to find facilities that were larger to accommodate the growing number," he added.

The new location, which currently houses the Nurses Association of Jamaica, will offer adequate space to serve the customers, numbering more than 200 daily, who apply and pay for services.

This figure, Mr. Aikman explained, did not include those who visited the location with queries.

Customers will be able to apply for birth, death and marriage certificates and record updating services, among others at the spacious Trevennion Park location.

The regional office has evolved over time, as it previously served as a Local District Registrar's office that facilitated only birth and death registration. In fact, registration services formerly available at the Hagley Park Health Centre and Little Kew Road were integrated with the creation of the office.

To facilitate the move, the RGD will close the Half-Way Tree office on Friday, July 3 and will open at the new location on July 5 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
