Congrats to all GSAT students
published: Tuesday | June 29, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

The GSAT results are out and many students are rejoicing and are grateful that they have done well and either passed for their first choice or just satisfied that they are going to traditional high schools.

On the other hand, there are students who feel dejected because of their results. I know of a 'well-educated' parent who had great expectations for his child in this year's GSAT examinations. He was sure his child would pass for one of the 'elite' high schools, but was tremendously disappointed.

Parents should not however pressure their children into thinking that it is a disgrace to pass for certain schools. There are numerous occasions where students of non-traditional high schools perform equally to those of traditional high schools or even better.

All students should be commended for their efforts in doing the GSAT, which is without a doubt an arduous task.

Congratulations!

I am, etc.,
