Electrical problems disrupts water supply
published: Tuesday | June 29, 2004

THE NATIONAL Water Commission (NWC) is advising customers served by the greater Mandeville water supply system in Manchester that electrical problems at the Gutters pumping station has resulted in the current disruption in their regular water supply.

The electrical problems stem from both problems with the local power supply and malfunctioning equipment at the Gutters plant. Consequently, customers served by this system have been experiencing low water pressure or no water at all over the past weekend.

NWC engineers continue to work non-stop to remedy the problem. However, customers are reminded that depending on their location, it may take a while for the pressure to build. It is hoped that regular service to all areas served will be restored by Thursday, July 1, 2004.

In the interim, customers requiring trucking assistance are invited to contact the NWC's call centre at 1-888-CALL-NWC (225-5692).

Among the areas affected are:

Mandeville and adjoining communities

Downs

Grey Ground and the surrounding areas

Spur Tree

Sea Air

Georges Valley and the adjoining areas

Parts of New Forest

Sections of Nain

The NWC apologises for any inconvenience caused, and reminds customers that full service may be restored ahead of the time specified.
