Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Spin-offs from local research
THE EDITOR, Sir: COLUMNIST MARTIN Henry (Daily Gleaner, June 24 2004) is generous, perhaps over-generous, in his recognition of my research on sea squirts.

Parents need training too
THE EDITOR, Sir: IT IS with some satisfaction that I have noted the recent effort of the Minister of Education, Maxine Henry-Wilson to copy an idea from the St. Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS).

Misleading CCJ opinions
THE EDITOR, Sir: There seems to be some misleading opinions floating in the air, that Parliament cannot abolish the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as the final Court of Appeal.

What or who is to be blamed?
THE EDITOR, Sir: A SENIOR Minister of Government recently made a statement in reference to young men in his constituency to the effect that most of them between the ages of 18 and 27 were unemployable, illiterate and irredeemable.

Dress to impress, please
THE EDITOR, Sir: CONGRATULATIONS ARE in order to the RJR Group for launching their '22 century' television studio recently. However, there is a very sore point I would like to ask them to correct.

Do not beat and mistreat homosexuals
THE EDITOR, Sir: I DO NOT support homosexuality. However homosexuals are individuals and should be treated equally just as others who are not homosexual. I do not believe that individuals should be beaten and mistreated because of their sexuality.

Better water management needed
THE EDITOR, Sir: THIS IS an open letter to the Prime Minister, Minister of Water and Minister of Tourism.

Put plain clothes cops at banks
THE EDITOR, Sir: THE CROSS Roads police need to have a plain clothes officer placed outside the station among the 'crooks' who sell the papers there.
