Tired of poor services
published: Thursday | July 1, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT'S A shame that the people of Jamaica have to suffer so much because of poor services. In this age of computerization, rapid communication why should anyone have to travel practically all of Jamaica to obtain essential documents; namely passport, fingerprint and birth certificates.

It is time that the system be revamped to minimize the overload in one place and the turtle process. Why not explore the possibility of setting up offices in key areas that would meet the needs of the people, for example an office in St Anns Bay, Montego Bay, Mandeville etc.

This would increase job opportunities, lessen the burden on the main hub that is now being used to cover all of the island's needs. The frustrations that the people now experience travelling, parking, waiting in the hot sun, getting up in the middle of the night to get to Kingston and Spanish Town I am sure would be decreased. I sincerely hope this is some suggestion that can be evaluated for its worth.

I am, etc.,

EMILYN JACKSON
