Shame on Digicel!
published: Thursday | July 1, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WISH to express my utter disgust for Digicel's "digichat" product and the way in which it is being promoted.

On Monday June 21, 2004 while attempting to check my credit balance, the message continued by advising me to join the Digicel Chatroom. Being an adult, I was not as gullible. However, my unsuspecting daughter, who happened to have checked her balance on the same day, was presented with the same option.

Out of child-like curiosity she ventured to dial the number that Digicel advertised. Much to our amazement, the high level of sexual content and gross indecency that came across by scores was just atrocious.

I would strongly suggest that Digicel use some other medium to advertise such products, in light of the fact that so many of us parents have given our 10-year-olds phones for obvious reasons.

I am, etc.,

CARLENE PALMER
