Royal Plantation named among leading hotels
published: Thursday | July 8, 2004

THE ROYAL Plantation in Ocho Rios has been granted membership to the Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.

It is the first hotel in Jamaica to become a member of this prestigious luxury hospitality organisation, which represents the world's premium hotels and resorts.

General manager, Peter A. Fraser, says the resort underwent a comprehensive audit and he is particularly pleased that it met the stringent criteria to earn the membership.

"I am truly proud that the team members continue to provide a first class and sophisticated service that is sought after by the most discerning travellers," Mr. Fraser said. "I am also excited that this very special piece of paradise on the Ocho Rios Rivera has been selected to join this notable consortium."

He said it was a tribute to the hard work and dedication that the employees have consistently demonstrated over the years.

Formed in 1982 by an entrepreneurial group of forward-thinking Europeans, The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. was initially known as the Luxury Hotels of Europe and Egypt, representing 38 hotels with approximately 9,000 rooms and suites. Today, the company represents more than 400 luxury hotels with more than 85,000 rooms in 80 countries.

The Royal Plantation is one of the leading resorts in the Sandals/Beaches chain. It has 74 suites and one private villa.
