There are other sins
published: Thursday | July 8, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IT HAS always amazed me how much attention people from our island pay to homosexuality.

Yes, the Bible says it is a sin, but why do Jamaicans not get so up-in-arms about other sins in the Bible? We are so angry and vocal about homosexuality, but we live in one of the most murderous nations in the WORLD.

Where are the DJ songs about the murderers? Where are the DJ songs about the child molesters? The adulterers? The domestic abusers?

Jamaicans seem to have decided to be holier-than-thou as far as homosexuality is concerned, but are ignoring other sins that are so prevalent in our society. Instead of our musicians wasting so much time on singing about homosexuals, how about singing about ending the crime and making Jamaica a better place?

I am, etc.,
