A hearty 'Amen!'
published: Friday | July 9, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

FIRST AND foremost, a loud, hearty Amen to your editorial of June 7 about public service. I pray to God that all Jamaican politicians will clip it out and place it as a reminder in a prominent place in their homes and offices. It was a classic non-pulpit sermon most fitting for times like these in Jamaica's history.

Secondly, I must inform your reader and letter writer (July 7) Ingrid Riley that Jamaica indeed did make the Guinness Book of World Records as the most religious country on earth, having the most churches per square mile per capita of population. I once had a copy of that Guinness Book from the 1970s or 1980s and that trivia fact does appear several places On-line, including the following link: http://facts.330.ca/world/ It was a wonderful piece from reader Riley to which I also say Amen!

I am, etc.,
