THE EDITOR, Sir:
QUESTIONS HAVE been raised as to how Miss Olivia Grange could act as a guarantor for Andrew 'Bunman' Hope without establishing if he could have serviced a car loan.
Being a 'small contractor' as he has been described by Miss Grange, servicing such a loan could have been difficult for the reputed second in command of the 'One Order Gang'. Perhaps answers to that query may lie in some journalist investigating if he carried out any public works at the behest of the Member of Parliament. If he did, income from such works could help in the repayment of a car loan.
Such an investigation may also provide evidence to support the call of Members of Parliament that the Social and Economic Support Programme (SESP) be maintained. After all it's one of the means by which Members of Parliament assist in the 'rehabilitation' of young men at risk such as 'Bunman'.
Regular small contracts from the programme given to struggling 'small contractors' would certainly boost their cash flows and make guarantors of their loans sleep easier at nights.
I am, etc.,
