Parents, don't neglect your children

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM again thanking you in advance for publishing my letter, which is an appeal to the citizens of Jamaica.
On reading the letter of M.C. of Frome published in yesterday's edition of your paper, I am overwhelmed with concern.
I hope he is not one of the many business people who wait to blame the Government for not providing protection after they have refused to pay the necessary taxes for the provision of the very same. His grandmother seems to have more guts than he does, as it was stated that she reported the church robbery. As for the "no panty" bus movement, only recently I watched an exposé on the same subject on the Oprah show. If more parents would use these common acts of indecency to point out the wrongs to their children we would have fewer copy-cats. Parents should also be encouraging their well brought-up children to join the police force and emulate Reneto Adams, rather than showing hate towards the police.
Let me hope that persons from the church who were held up will be brave enough to identify the culprits and enter into intercessory prayers for Reneto Adams and his team. I am also appealing to parents to take responsibility for their children's upbringing so that these girls will have the pride to know when and where the deficiency of panties from their formal dress code is permitted.
I am, etc.,
