In-laws exposed to trash

THE EDITOR, Sir:
ON JULY 19 a fellow member of the United States Air Force was quite happy to let me know that his in-laws had just returned from a cruise and that one of the stops had been Jamaica. He then went on to mention, I think the term he used was "wild dogs just walking all about the tourist areas". However, the shocker was when he spoke about the guy in dreads that tried to sell them drugs.
I was hoping to get a really good report because so many people were standing there during this evolving conversation. I had to then change the subject out of fear that he would say more damaging things that were experienced. He did complete his little story to tell me that his in-laws said they won't ever set foot on the island again because of the trash that they were exposed to.
Being a proud Jamaican in the US Air Force I had to stand some ground but there wasn't much left for me to stand on. Please forward a copy of this letter to the Director of Tourism. I was hoping that we were far beyond this problem.
I am, etc.,
