Mr. Boyne, please continue!
published: Tuesday | August 10, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

COLUMNIST IAN Boyne noted, among other observations, in The Sunday Gleaner, August 1, 2004: "Accepting a market economy - which we should - is not the same as accepting a market society which we should not."

I would like Mr. Boyne, if the conditions of time and space are favourable, to develop this argument in future columns and, in so doing, scientifically demonstrate how Jamaica can give birth to a market economy while preventing the creation of a market society. It would also be helpful if he would identify the social force or forces, historically placed to midwife the process.

I am, etc.,
