LETTER OF THE DAY - The power of prayer
published: Saturday | August 14, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE BAWL Out Committee calls the nation to note with gratitude, the good hand of God in sparing our nation the greater possible onslaught, loss and damage that could have come from a direct hit by Hurricane Charley. The nation needs to be aware that this is a result of prayer appealing to God's mercy.

We also note the significant drop in the number of murders and overall crime for the last three weeks since the commencement of seven days of fasting on July 26, leading into the season of prayer for spiritual emancipation of our nation, covering August 1 to October 31, 2004.

This is a demonstration of the power of prayer. It is not merely a manner of effective policing strategies. If the nation does not honour God and be thankful, then greater calamity will come upon the nation before we see better days.

We can, however, assure the nation that as the church plays its part in this season of prayer in Bawl Out 2, the way is being paved for a better tomorrow. We will see change in significant areas in the months ahead.

Let us give thanks and praise with much humility.

I am, etc.,

AL MILLER

Chairman

Bawl Out 2 Committee
