UWI lecturer dies in London

MR. GORDON Draper, Senior Lecturer at the Mona School of Business and Alister McIntyre Fellow, died on Wednesday, August 11 in London after a sudden berth of illness.

He was returning from the Senior Public Service Management Workshop for senior government officials sponsored by the Commonwealth Secretariat which was held at the University of Cape Town, South Africa August 2 to 6.

Mr. Draper, who was born in Trinidad and Tobago, was also Director of International Development of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM). He had presented a paper- 'The Future of the Public Service and Leadership Development for Public Service' and was attending the workshop on behalf of CAPAM.

His activities at UWI included research on governance and public sector management and lecturing in graduate programmes in Public Sector Management, Human Resource Management, and Organisational Development and Change. His CAPAM involvement included designing and delivering workshops for senior public service managers in Commonwealth countries. Over the last five years Mr. Draper did training or consulting work in Public Sector management in over 25 countries.

The funeral service for Mr. Draper will be held on Thursday in Trinidad and Tobago.
