QWhat is your response to the claim that beauty contests are superficial?

"To judge the superficiality of anything you have to look at the content of it. There are different sides to it. There's the Miss Jamaica World talent, beach beauty and sports. I'd say it's not a superficial contest even though emphasis is placed on the physical side. Based on the new look of the Miss Jamaica World Competition, I would not say that it has been superficial."

QWhat in your opinion is your best quality?

"Open-mindedness and a scene of adventure. I'm quite interested in learning about other cultures. In my spare time I enjoy studying new languages. There's nothing like coming out of the airport and seeing a strange land and finding my way around."

QHow does being in the competition affect your career goals and how will it affect them if you win?

"My dream is to become a lawyer. Being in the competition provides a certain level of exposure and a chance to network. Fundamentally being a lawyer requires a certain sense of openness and the ability to express oneself confidently. It helps one to have a more global outlook. Working in law that is truly needed as much as the language. Doing community service helps in character development."

QWhat do you think of the addition of the talent, sports and beach beauty mini-competitions to the pageant?

"It makes the pageant more comprehensive. There are other aspects determining who wins. It shows that all the emphasis is not placed on the physical appearance. Other aspects are factored into the whole programme."

QWhich of the mini-competitions do you stand the best chance of winning?

"I'm going to give a very good shot at the talent competition."

NAME THREE MUST-HAVES?

"A fulfilling career, children (adopted or my own), be fluent in at least four foreign languages before I make my exit."

Why should you win the title of 'Miss Jamaica World'?

"I'm a very patriotic person. I believe in our Jamaican culture and the uniqueness of our people. I have the knowledge and outlook that will allow me to feel confident in any context, to really stand and show what it means to be Jamaican.
