Rosemarie and Stuart Grant on their wedding day. - ContributedWHEN HER first husband died in a car accident, Rosemarie Beckford swore she would never remarry.
Then four years later she met Stuart Grant, who swept her off her feet.
"He told me that he loved me and that he wanted to marry me."
The couple met at AJ's Supermarket on Brunswick Street in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, where she works as a cashier and he worked behind the scenes.
Grant, 32, was smitten from the start. "When I saw her I just couldn't take my eyes off her. I just couldn't help looking."
FURTHER CAPTIVATED
He was further captivated by her outspoken nature as well as her gracefulness, he says, adding that he even prayed that God would grant him a place in her heart.
When Beckford, a mother of three, proved to be a hard nut to crack, Grant dug in. Nothing, he says, was going to stop him from winning her over.
He turned on the charm, getting her to warm up to him. Romance blossomed from there on and, in February when he felt the time was right, Grant popped the question. "I could not wait for the day to come. I was really anxious about it," he confesses.
He was even more nervous on June 16, their wedding day, when his radiant 33-year-old bride walked down the aisle. "I could not take up the ring. I was extremely nervous and had take time to calm myself down."
Their wedding took place at the Berean Church of God, Kencot, Kingston 10. The officiating minister was Rev. Audley Coleman from May Pen, Clarendon. The reception was held in their Central Village, St. Catherine, home.
After two months of marriage, Beckford says she's mad about her new husband. "He's so perfect," she told Flair. "I could not find a better husband."
Grant, still beaming about his 'catch', said: "I have nothing to hold me back now. I have a wonderful wife."
He has started attending the Berean Church of God with his wife and adds: "My aim now is to become a Christian. I am now experiencing God. I did not know that Christianity was so sweet."
