Spotless bathrooms
published: Monday | August 16, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I ONCE read an advertisement some years ago of a car dealership which suggested that if you wanted to know a good car dealership you should first check out their bathroom and if the bathroom was in excellent condition there goes a good one.

A few days ago I walked downtown Kingston on Barry Street in the vicinity of the Supreme Court. I ventured to use a public bathroom where I paid $20 on entering. I was pleasantly surprised and would pay if asked without a murmur. The bathroom was immaculately clean, complete with toilet paper, paper towel and soap dispenser. It was much cleaner than any I have seen in any government office, business place, top class restaurant uptown, downtown, midtown, or anywhere except top quality hotels in Jamaica.

The Kingston and Saint Andrew Corporation and the two or more ladies must be congratulated. To enhance the furtherance of the 'Clean the City' program, it would be worthwhile putting others elsewhere of a similar standard.

I am, etc.,
