
Beverley Stewart IN KEEPING with the thrust to fulfil the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, a new security manager has been appointed to the ports of Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.
Beverley Stewart, a security professional with more that 20 years experience under her belt, assumed duties on July 26, 2004 with a role to see the day-to-day security needs of the ports, correct deficiencies in the system and ensure adequate training of personnel.
In sharing her vision for the two ports, Miss Stewart said she would endeavour to have the ports incident free by pursuing proactive approaches to maintain security measures and continuously conduct assessment in order to make necessary improvements.
Miss Stewart served in the Jamaica Constabulary Force for nine years and was a junior manager at Cable and Wireless, specialising in fraud investigation and loss prevention. She also worked as a security consultant at Security Advisory and Management Services (SAMS), where she served the Port of Kingston and shipping agents. Coupled with these experiences, she also completed training in management and psychology at the University of Technology and the University of The West Indies.
