Stop the genocide
published: Thursday | August 26, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

OUR BLACK brothers in Darfur, Sudan, are being subjected to ethnic cleansing or genocide by the Arab militia, with the blessing of the Sudanese government and some international oil companies.

As usual, the black people of the world, including black leaders, appear to be ambivalent to the plight of the black Sudanese.

The United Nations, dominated by the United States, can only issue a vague economic threat against the Sudanese government and a request for the government to disarm the Arab militia. Apparently, the United Nations seems to think that the Sudanese government needs more time, probably to complete the genocide of the black population in southern Sudan and make way for the western oil companies.

If Mugabe of Zimbabwe supported a black militia that killed a few white Zimbabweans, the whole western world and the United Nations would want his head and his regime put down.

I am, etc.,
