Tighten up payments, Blue Cross
published: Saturday | August 28, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WOULD have liked to continue showering the bouquets on Blue Cross of Jamaica, but of recent times, it is the other way around.

There is a widespread grumbling among many of their participants, that Blue Cross is not prompt with claims payments as before.

Sometime ago, I saw a notice in the Mandeville Branch Office which read, that claims submitted will be settled within 21 working days. But on the contrary, this is not the case, as I have had personal experience.

However, let me commend them for a very good health scheme being offered to the public.

Another matter I would like to bring to their attention is that, whenever they are going to effect any change in the insurance payment and shift in any facet of the health benefits, their clientele should be informed beforehand.

If the source from which the premiums are being paid is inadvertently not remitted on due date, who is responsible to contact the member before action is taken?

Please, let us rejoice again in that wonderful assurance we once enjoyed prompt repayment.

I am, etc.,

E.N. PERKINS

Mandeville
