THE EXECUTIVE of Arlington Football Club announced that they will start their first Wray and Nephew National Premier League with a bang, at a press launch on Thursday.
The launch was held to allay fears that Arlington would suffer the same fate as many teams that have gotten to top flight football and have found that they aren't able to manage the financial responsibilities that come with the feat.
To accentuate the point, Chief Executive Officer of Fusion Fashions, Bahaedden Alsanouri, presented an undisclosed sponsorship check to the club, after which Arlington's General Secretary, Dr. Ian Gilbert, announced that this was only one of a number of sponsorships that the club has received and will be receiving in the future.
Alsanouri was elated to be associated with the rising club and said:
"I love sports and I was looking for a club and I found Arlington. I won't let them down and they can be sure that I'll be here with them until the end," he said.
LAYER TRANSFERS
In response to questions about player transfers, the Arlington executive announced that while they were in the process of garnering players, the core of their team would be comprised of the players that achieved the unprecedented qualification feat earlier this year.
The guest speaker on the night was St. Catherine Football Association president Lincoln 'Happy' Sutherland, who lauded the enterprise of the Arlington management team and that of the players, capping off his statements by saying:
"A lot of these 'name' teams are going to know who Arlington is."
While the players have basically remained the same, Arlington's management has gone through a metamorphosis, a point which brought praise from Sutherland.
"I have noted that Arlington have improved their management structure to the point where they have good leadership for the Premier League level," Sutherland said.
Added to the changing face of their management, Arlington have also employed the services of a number of 19-year-olds that have remained a secret to compete in the under-21 competition.
