THE EDITOR, Sir:
IN TODAY'S Jamaica, the unfortunate tendency to criticise rather than praise has become endemic in our society, and it is for this reason, inter alia, that I would like to bring to the public's attention my own recent positive experiences.
From as long ago as last year, I had occasion to seek medical assistance at the St. Ann's Bay Hospital, and at that time I was singularly impressed with the professionalism, care and compassion of those with whom I came into contact.
Thinking to myself that this might be a rare experience, a "one off" so to speak, I accepted with gratitude the service of the hospital medical personnel and took all this in my stride.
Only last week, I once again found myself at the same hospital in St. Ann's Bay, this time for a far more serious matter, and on this occasion had to be admitted as a patient for four days in the male medical ward. Words are totally inadequate to express the high level of care, love and consideration shown to me and members of my family by the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff who were attentive, sympathetic and patient in attending to my needs.
Those of us who reside in rural Jamaica often believe that the best facilities reside in the Corporate Area, but I am here to testify that certainly as far as the St. Ann's Bay Hospital is concerned, no one could ask for more. I publicly say a big "thank you" to each and every person with whom I came into contact. God bless you all.
I am, etc.,
