Creating our own disasters
published: Thursday | September 2, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

TODAY IS one week since the start of the fires at Riverton. This morning, I noticed a painting of smoke across the sky heading in a south-west direction. This is beyond a health hazard but an environmental disaster. Is it that we have become a nation of disaster creation? No wonder Hurricane Charley moved by us recently, there is obviously no need for natural disasters to hit the country.

We are doing an excellent job of destroying our beautiful island all by ourselves. I am saddened by this and call on our people to be aggressive about protecting this awesome and beautiful land before it slips out of our hands.

I am, etc.,
