Assamba should apologise
published: Thursday | September 2, 2004

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE CONTROVERSIAL statements attributed to Minister Assamba have indicated that political tribalism is still alive and well. I do accept that she is a politician, but she must remember that she is also an agent of the state. Her actions were irresponsible and unprofessional.

How can the Minister be crying about the crime problem and in the same breath preaching political tribalism. To hear the usually eloquent and trustworthy Honourable Burchell Whiteman defend her actions is quite disappointing, but I guess once a comrade always a comrade.

Minister Assamba, I believe that there is only one right thing to do and that is to apologise to the nation.

I am, etc.,
