Air J cancels flights
published: Friday | September 3, 2004

AIR JAMAICA yesterday announced the cancellation of all scheduled flights into and out of Miami and Fort Lauderdale today and tomorrow, as a result of various airport closures because of the threat posed by Hurricane Frances, a Category Four storm.

The airline has also cancelled flights into and out of Orlando for tomorrow and Sunday.

Flight JM063 from Montego Bay to Nassau, Bahamas and JM062 from Nassau to Montego Bay, which were scheduled to operate tomorrow and Saturday have also been cancelled.

Air Jamaica will resume scheduled flights into Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Nassau on Sunday and into Orlando on Monday if the authorities give clearance and if it is safe to do so, said a statement from the airline yesterday.

EXTRA FLIGHT

Air Jamaica operated an extra flight, JM1036 from Fort Lauderdale to Kingston last night.

It advised that passengers booked to travel on flights to the affected Florida cities, Nassau and the Turks and Caicos between September 2 and 12 may change their reservations without penalty subject to the following conditions.

Passengers must already be in possession of a ticket.

Passengers will be guaranteed the same fare as they were officially ticketed within the applicable fare parameters.

Tickets with an expiry date during the affected period will be extended for travel to September 17, 2004.

A request for deferral of travel must be made prior to the original travel date.

Passengers who elect not to travel will be issued a voucher for further travel for the full value of the ticket without penalty.
